Research/Plan
Research was conduction in two one-to-one interviews with current employees.
This was done over zoom, where I asked participants to share their screens and walk me through their day-to-day processes with the software. I also went over plans for improvements with the owner of the company via Zoom and we spoke about desired features. Owner expressed desires for improvements.

Secondary Research was conducted to search for current businesses with similar layouts and functionalities for comparison. Since the company was a data heavy and had a data table centric design I tried to look at competitors such as Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel and Docsumo, for inspiration.
Insights
How might we make MJ Trucking look more current?
How might we make a standard for how MJ Trucking will look in future iterations?
How might we make MJ Trucking screen navigation less complex?
How might we attract more prospective customers with better looking UI?

Design
MJ Trucking did not have a style guide in place. The owner expressed a desire to have possibly a blue/neutral color system in place.

As I proceeded with my design I added to this new style guide which will ultimately help in developing MJ Trucking's design system at a later date.

Conclusion
Mj Trucking was an interesting project for me. Having known nothing about the trucking industry, not only did I enjoy designing but I also learned so much about an industry in which i had no prior experience. In this job I got to work one-on-one with the company's one and only coder. I learned so much about how my designs would translate in code, Bootstrap, and I felt it really enriched me as a designer. I think MJ Trucking is going to flourish in its fresher new feel.
